In an effort to make your internet browsing experience faster, your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc) will create a local cache on your computer of web pages that you frequent.

 

Although an increased browsing speed sounds ideal, it can take up valuable storage space on your computer and pose a major threat to your privacy.  The cache stores all sorts of pictures, videos, audio clips, and cookies from websites that you have visited.
