Windows XP

The School of Business has installed Microsoft's Search Desktop, an amazing search tool that not only finds inbox mail, archives mail, and data files but it will allow you to double click on the found file and open it in the native application it was created with.

This product indexes faster than Google Desktop more thoroughly, especially for mail and external drive.

To the left of the system tray (lower right, where the mini icons are) there is a Search Desktop search field.

Type in the name of what you are looking for

Press Enter

 

 

Windows 7

Microsoft incorporated a very effective, built-in search feature that can be used for locating missing files, shortcuts, setting options, and programs.

Click the Start icon

In the search bar at the bottom of the menu (circled in red), type in the name of what you are looking for
